I do not believe that the residents of Stocksbridge, Midhope, Langsett, Oxspring and the surrounding areas are fully aware of the catastrophic impact the building of the wind turbines at
With five wind turbines, each at a height of over 400ft, the natural beauty of the area would be totally devastated. These monstrosities would be a total eyesore. After consultation with experts at
The turbines are a health hazard to people living near them because of the low frequency noise they emit, according to new medical studies. The turbines, which will be bigger than Big Ben, can cause headaches and depression.
One study found that all but one of 14 people living near the Bears Down wind farm at Padstow had experienced increased numbers of headaches, and 10 said they had problems sleeping and suffered from anxiety.
Dr. Amanda Harry, who conducted the research, said: “People demonstrated a range of symptoms from headaches, migraines, nausea, dizziness, palpitations and tinnitus to sleep disturbance, stress, anxiety and depression. These symptoms had a knock-on effect in their daily lives, causing poor concentration, irritability and an inability to cope.”
In Denmark, where wind turbines were introduced as long as 30 years ago, the government has responded to public demand and stopped erecting onshore turbines because of the noise hazard.
On a final note, I do believe that the only people to benefit from these turbines would be the landowner standing to make a huge profit from the sale of his land, and the construction company that would build them.
